What My Dream Ranch Project Really is

My whole life I have wanted to live on a ranch. All the books I escaped to as a child were about animals or ranch and farm life. For several years I was involved with training horses for shows and 4H Fairs, but recently I was awakened by a strong desire to reach out to troubled children.
It was then that My Dream Ranch Project was born!
This dream ranch would be a fully functional, self sustainable ranch and farm, with environmentally safe and renewable resources.
It would be a refuge for any troubled child or foster child. They would be welcomed with open arms, and taught valuable skills needed to be a sucessful part of our society. It will be a place where any child will feel safe and have a chance to embrace life. What better way to reconect with life than through an animal.
Horses have long been used as tools for farming and ranching. They are also a treasured instrument in physical therapy. Animals in general are often used for reconecting detached people to the rest of the world. Through the Dream Ranch Project these children will be given the chance to work with the animals and learn from them. They will be taught how to discipline themselves which is the first step to training any animal.
The children will be welcome to stay in the program untill they are ready to be placed in loving homes and adopted. If they stay in the program and we are unable to place them in homes they will be adopted into our family. When they turn 18 years old they will be offered a job at the ranch.
Right now I am still in the planning stage.
If any of my readers has a comment or advice on running and maintaining the ranch, or possible funding options, please email me. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
